Bad Arolsen Archives

Last night I went to a presentation on the archives at Bad Arolsen which include the International Red Cross’ International Tracing service, which were only opened up to the public last May, and which by next year should be available in diigitzed form at the US Holocaust Museum.

The Archives contain many Nazi records concerning labor details, extermination reports, as well as correspondence relating to many of the ghettos and cities the Nazis occupied. It also has copies of the post war correspondence of persons looking to find out the fate of their relatives and the response sometimes including information about other family members.

Apparently, for $50,000 the Archives could set up another satellite collection. Sounds like something the Spielberg Shoah Foundation at USC should look into.
