In which I interview Evan Handler, Meir Shalev and Jonathan Kirsch

Yesterday the American Jewish University (formerly the University of Judaism) held their second annual Celebration of Jewish Books.
It was a beautiful day — and that turned out, I believe, to not necessarily be a good thing — which is a long way of saying that attendance was low — lower than last year. Most people I discussed it with thought that perhaps last year had bigger attendance because they had bigger names, such as Larry King and Kirk Douglas and Michael CHabon (who you may recall I interviewed in my column for the occasion).
This year had Israeli novelists Yoram Kaniuk and Meir Shalev, and authors as diverse as Nathan Englander, Jonathan Safran Foer, as well as Evan Handler, Fred & Kim Goldman, Alan Zweibel, Jonathan Kirshch, Sharon Waxman and columnist Joel Stein.
I was asked by JTN to interview Handler, Shalev, and Kirsch (seperately) on camera. As soon as I get photos and video I wll post them.
Much of the Jewish Journal staff was there including ROb Eshman, Susan Freudenheim, Adam Wills, Brad Greenberg, and Matt the marketing maven…..
Because I was interviewing I didn’t actually get to attend any of the panels so I can’t report on that. But I’m rushing off now so I’ll write more later…..
