Liberal Paranoid fantasies

Rob Bragin has made his blog debut on the pages of Vanity Fair Daily, with “Wait It’s a Trap” which wonders if somehow the McCain Palin candidacy was so inept on purpose….
My own liberal paranoid fantasy has the soundtrack of The Who singing that we pray that “We don’t get fooled again!” and thinking about how often in history the Jews have welcomed change, been supporters of change, worked hard for change, only to find that they were soon enough the victims of the new administration.
One can recall those Jews who welcomed the Soviet Revolution (and were part of it); or the Bela Kun government in Hungary, and even more recently those Persian Jews who worked for the Shah’s downfall and the revolution.
But here, well although it may turn out that the “new boss, [is the] same as the old boss” I don’t think so But neither do I believe moshiach has come. The greedy will not be less so; the culture of self-interest will not disappear. But hopefully we will be able to institute some checks and balances on a system run amok. Hopefully ethics will return to the administration of Justice, both in our justice department, in our courts, and among our military tribunals and interrogations. That is my hope.
and I pray that we don’t get fooled again.
