A plan to save Moca

Roberta Smith writing in the New York Times this morning put forward a plan to save MOCA which was reasonable and would work. To read her article click here.

Noting that the gap that MOCA needs to fill is $25 Million she called upon board members, trustees, art collectors, art patrons, artists and individual citizens to step up to the plate.

Let me go a step forward: I can imagine a group of 30 artists whose work has been shown at MOCA (and the value of whose has increased by being shown at MOCA), many of whom make paintings valued at more than $1 Million to donate works to be auctioned on behalf of MOCA, and that would include the estates of Rauschenberg and Warhol, as well as as so many of the artists who make up the LA art scene.
