Woody Allen, Madoff’s avenging angel

Who’d a thunk it? Woody Allen has found a way a way to channel anger at Madoff into a humor piece of revenge. As publishied in this week’s New Yorker, Allen imagines two of Madoff’s victims recently deceased, reincarnated as lobsters in a tank in a NY restaurant who realize they’ve come back to get revenge on Madoff. The tone is more Broadway Danny Rose than Allen’s recent work, but much of his written humor pieces often take up a catskills era Jewish tone as this does. But here’s the thing: he had the chutzpah to write it, and it’s funny. That’s a pretty great accomplishment.
