Acclimating to New Orleans

By Tom Teicholz at 30 April, 2009, 8:06 am

When you land it seems hot and sticky — and you’re not quite in the groove yet. The passage to the nouvelle Orleans sometimes needs some Abita beer and red beans and rice.

My own transition was made much more easy by heading straight for to the Acme Oyster House.

The bar-b-q’d oysters are heaven, so much of heaven that we had to order another dozen

And then there’s WWOZ — which may be the greatest radio station in the US –it certainly is during Jazzfest. If you can’t be here, just tune in online. They are on the internet too — yes, internet radio — happenning right now –just heard Tuba fats play the Algiers Strut.

The bon temps are already roulez-ing right along…..
