craiglist writers

Speaking of craigslist, the other day someone sent me a job posting for a writing assignment on craigslist that they thought would appeal to me.
I’m not someone who uses craiglist (for whatever reason, I’ve never had any success using ebay or craigslist, it;s just not for me), but I checked out the offerings. One of them was for a short term copy editing gig and it was from a company run by a friend of mine, so I asked him what the story was — he told me it was very low pay.
There was also a listing for a company that needed articles written for the sole reason of Search engine optimization (SEO) — yes it’s come to that, and given that what’s required is more typing than writing they were offering something like $1 per 100 word article for 90 articles (yup, you read that right).
There were also some interesting ghostwriting assignments, that did not reveal what they were paying, but they seemed legit — SO who knows.
What I did notice is that Craiglists is a sort of cut out the middleman kind of entterprise it’s for people who are looking to hire directly — no agents or intermediaries.
Anyhow, all part of our brave new world
